FREE Hands-on Learning Classes

For 2012, Charlotte Clean and Green will offer FREE Hands-on learning classes. We’re still firming up the details, however, if you’d like to be considered as a presenter please see below.

The 2012 Charlotte Clean and Green planning committee is currently seeking presentation proposals for Charlotte’s premier environmental education and celebration event.  A featured component of CC&G is the educational presentations which occur throughout the day-long event.  This year we have an exciting new location and a new educational approach with presentations conducted outside and focused more on demonstrations.

The planning committee is seeking presentation topics that offer relevant, thought-provoking and practical information to a diverse, environmentally conscious, or just curious, audience.

Topics related to the environment including renewable energy, urban ecosystems, water conservation, biodiversity, earth science, agriculture, home and community gardening, environmental health care, alternative transportation options, and other sustainability concepts, are encouraged.   And to grab attendee attention, we invite you to be especially creative in titling your presentation (“Let the Sun Shine On,” “Ward Off The Energy Vampires,” etc.) – use your imagination, make it exciting, but keep it clean and green.

Who: Charlotte Clean and Green

Where: The Elizabeth Park – the new section along the Little Sugar Creek Greenway at Elizabeth Ave and Kings Drive, Charlotte, NC

When: Saturday, May 19th from 10:00am – 3:00pm

What: Topics relevant to the environmentally conscious and curious in our region

How Long: 20 – 30 minutes per session. Allow time for questions. We ask that you give your presentation two or three times during the event in order to allow ample opportunity for the public to attend.

How Much: An honorarium for each session, a free t-shirt, and complimentary lunch

Each presentation will take place outside along the greenway under tents. No electricity will be provided which means no PowerPoints. You are encouraged to use creative, hands-on ways to demonstrate and supplement your presentation.  Presenters from local businesses, schools and universities are encouraged to present topics that will appeal to the general public. This is not, however, intended to be a commercial sales pitch.
